Ready to breakup with QuickBooks?

Hello. My name is Melissa and I said "no!" to subscription based financial software.

My family owns / operates a few businesses and have been doing our own books in-house for more than 20 years.

I started to panic when QuickBooks decided to charge a fortune for the desktop version but I couldn't find an alternative that I liked. So I just figured out how to pay the ridiculously high price for Pro Desktop. Now, they're saying desktop goes away completely. And we have to go to QuickBooks online. No, nope, NO!

ABOUT ME

Business Owner / My own Bookkeeper

My first job was doing books for a friend's family business. They taught me how to enter deposits and write checks in their financial software, QuickBooks. At the end of the year, I sent the file to the accountant and they finished the books.

This skill was truly all I needed to know as I ventured into Entrepreneurialism. Later, I got more sophisticated and was able to track interest payments (real estate loans, credit cards, etc.). Still didn't need any outside help. Just happily sent my books to the CPA to file the returns (they booked all of the journal entries for me).

When the books get too much for us to do on our own, we hire a bookkeeper but we can manage for a good long while.

How this went down

Cloud Based Software

I don't like the idea of it for a few reasons. 1) They're constantly updating. With features that we didn't even ask for. Remember when Windows would stay the same for YEARS and now when you try to find something it's different every week? Well, that's super frustrating when it's your money. I don't like constant updates. 2) Why do they ask you to log in all of the time, to their system, and have a 2-step verification - to get into our own financial data? No thank you. I want to set my password and don't want to to keep asking me to re-authenticate. 3) Is it a good idea for someone out there in "the cloud" to know all of my financial business? Feels so intrusive. Do I link my bank account to have it automatically download into QuickBooks? That's a big - heck no! Trading the convenience for "the cloud" knowing every transaction in / out of my account? No thank you. 4) You set the price (super low at first) then raise it whenever you want? And if I don't pay, goodbye MY data? This feels like you're trying to sell me crack. "First hit is free".

Choices

Are there a bunch of choices to pour through? Yes, but they want us to download all of them to try. Really? Without even knowing if it's going to be as annoying as QB online? And does anyone give us the choice of desktop? Nope. Or so I thought .....

I found a desktop version ... on Amazon. No kidding

It seemed too good to be true. I spent days and even weeks scrolling and scrolling. And then, the heavens opened and I found it (*queue Angels singing*). And it was $35.00 on Amazon. A good old fashioned CD Rom if you want it or a "Download" right to your own secure laptop.

Is it perfect?

No. And if you read the reviews you won't buy. BUT it does everything that I loved my QuickBooks desktop version for. It's just a little funny. They have different names for things (try to find a P&L) but if you're as determined as I was, you'll find everything you need. And yes, even a P&L (which they call financial statement). And, you have to order their checks, which are crazy expensive but if you don't use many, who cares?

Bookkeeper?

You can add as many companies as you want, no separate login. Manage as many clients as you can handle. You're welcome.

How do I buy?

Go to Amazon

I don't work for this software company. I don't have any affiliation with them. I just found it after pulling my hair out.

Ignore the reviews. I read all of them, bought it anyway and boy am I glad I did. Game. Changer.

You can download it, like I did. Or if you're really an off-grid'er - props. You can order the CD.

Need help?

I gotchu. I have referred this to so many people that I wound up getting pretty good at training on Zoom. I'm happy to show you my tips and tricks. There are a LOT of quirky things. I'll save you a ton of headaches. Pinky promise.

Class is in a group setting. We will take an hour. I take questions at the end of the hour, if you want to stay on. You'll have the basics : we'll set up accounts, you'll be able to write checks, make deposits & run financial statements. There's a payroll module if you want it but I have something better you might want to try.

$150.00 - Bookkeeper 101

Email me which time (and date) you want and I'll get you set up.

Or if you took the basics class and need a one-on-one (and my calendar doesn't show any open times that work for you) email me. If my week's not to crazy, I'll try to squeeze in a private meeting.
